When it comes to spa and wellness travel, Canada can compete with any country

Toronto, ON (PRWEB) January 16, 2008 -- Travel to Wellness Canada (www.traveltowellness.com/Canada), a new online guide, offers an editorial close-up of Canada as a spa and wellness vacation destination. "The wellness travel product in Canada is a good as you'll find anywhere," says Anne Dimon, professional travel writer, industry journalist and creator of the guide.

Covering spa and wellness travel activities available across the country from St. John's, Newfoundland to Tofino, British Columbia, the guide incorporates 30 destinations, mini reviews of over 60 plus spas, best fitness adventures (hiking, cycling, paddling, cross-country skiing and snow-shoeing) and culinary activities and attractions such as farmers' markets, wine regions, taste trails and food and wine festivals. Plus, there are over two dozen spa and wellness travel articles written by such established and respected Canadian travel writers as Judi Lees, Kate Pocock, Michelle Sponagle and Victoria Stevens.

Articles include topics such as Top Places to Snowshoe, Where to Yoga, Spa Hopping in Quebec's Eastern Townships, Hiking Gros Morne Mountain in Newfoundland, Inspirational Views on Vancouver Island and Shopping at Toronto's St Lawrence Market with the Chefs of the Fairmont Royal York. Other editorial features include Best Spas in Canada and 101 Reasons to Spa in Canada. The guide also offers a section on Where to Eat Healthy and where to look for Scenic Drives and Inspirational Views. New content is added on a weekly basis. A section on seasonal packages - featuring spa, fitness, yoga and wellness vacations - is currently in the works.

As wellness-minded consumers around the world begin to discover what Canada offers under the umbrella of Wellness Travel, the country is becoming a desired destination for the growing number of world-wide wellness-minded travelers. "Many of the destinations we have selected to feature with the launch of Travel to Wellness Canada have all the necessary ingredients to qualify as 'wellness destinations,'" says Dimon. "They offer a variety of spas with a wealth of wellness disciplines delivered by experienced professionals, an abundance of inspirational natural beauty, easily accessible outdoor fitness activities, dining options with an emphasis on local produce, and a selection of upscale accommodations." She says Canadians looking to take a wellness vacation don't need to deal with the stress of passports, foreign currency, customs, or navigating another country.

A former public relations professional and a travel writer/columnist for the last 17 years, Dimon has traveled the world experiencing spa and wellness travel options in countries near and far. "When it comes to spa and wellness travel, Canada can compete with any country," she says. "It's all here - from seaside, to lakefront to mountain setting - there is something for anyone looking to take a wellness vacation." Over the past two years, she has traveled coast-to-coast researching the Canadian spa and wellness-travel product and collecting information for the guide.

The author of the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Glow Magazine guides to Canada's Best Spas, Dimon also contributes to such publications as Spa Asia, Spa Business (U.K.), Singapore Airlines Magazine, Oxygen Magazine, Metro Toronto News, Hotelier, Meetings & Incentive Travel and is a columnist for Clean Eating Magazine, a new healthy-eating magazine launched in the U.S. and Canada in December.

Travel to Wellness Canada is published by Travel to Wellness Inc. a privately-owned Toronto-based company. Traveltowellness.com is a two-and-a-half-year-old, editorially-driven e-magazine for the wellness-minded traveler. Both Travel to Wellness and Travel to Wellness Canada are editorially-driven, content rich and are supported by advertising. Current advertisers include Tourism Quebec, Premiere Spas of Ontario, Leading Spas of Canada, Ontario's Finest Inns, Relais Santé Spas and Atourz. To enter the contest go to www.traveltowellness.com/winaspavisit. Contest closes at midnight, January 31, 2008.
