Husband Abandons Young Wife for the "Free Love" Movement

Author tells of her journey out of the Fire and into healing

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) January 17, 2008 -- There is nothing more powerful than someone's personal testimony, especially when it is a deeply moving story of redemption. Fire (paperback, 978-1-60477-401-6) is one woman's story of the personal destruction she experienced as a result of the hippie movement during the Vietnam War years, and how God's grace brought her back to a place of emotional healing many years later.

Author Patricia Ella left her upper middle-class upbringing to marry right out of high school, only to be abandoned by her young husband five years later when he took off for Berkeley, California, to live in a commune. She was left to raise their two-month-old son alone. Nearly thirty years went by as she struggled to work, pay the bills, and raise her son successfully on her own, all while sensing there was a great deal of pain buried deep inside her.

"I had to face the truth about my life," says Ella. "I had been treated worse than an abandoned, abused animal. I learned that you can run, but you can't hide, and that if God is going to save you, He will do it no matter who you are, what you have been through, where you have been, how you treat yourself, and what other people say, do or think."

Ella learned through years of counseling that she had been suffering from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Complex PTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Major Depressive Disorder, and deep emotional wounding. It is the author's hope that readers who suffer likewise will understand how God's Word has the power to save and sustain them through fiery trials and tribulations. This book is part of her healing journey back to wholeness.
