New York, NY (PRWEB) January 22, 2008 -- Alex Geana has announced the pub date for his book, Side Step Me for an April - May launch. Some of the large format work will be shown in Linda Troeller's upcoming round up of artists at the historic Chelsea Hotel.
From the book blurb: "Side Step Me dips into pill popping culture; a never-ending need for one night stands, conspicuous consumption, intoxication. The happy doctors that dispense pills like Halloween candy, encouraging the sensation of happiness through the lonely intimacy and sometimes fever of New York. The author draws from his own experience, withdrawing from Celexa, cold turkey, because insurance ran dry. Capturing the strata of its inhabitants; as they constantly navigate this forever up-and-coming city -- wait for lovers, or try to cope with their lives. Poetry and short stories take us through the bathhouses of on-line sex."
Concept of art at the Chelsea Hotel: Alex Geana states "It's wonderful to be included in a great show with such a dynamic artist at the helm." Three pieces will be contributed, exploring a modern Warholian take; themes of beauty and devastation will be explored." He continues to state. "I snapped a lot of photos for the book, always wanting to combine poetry with photo; this is a wonderful chance to show text art in a different forum. Some of my photos only work well in large format, so this art show is a great supplement to the book"; which comes out at the same time.
The Chelsea Hotel has birthed many new artists and is currently caught in a tumultuous state due to real estate development and the surrounding market. Find out more about this challenge and learn about Linda's last show.
