CW11/WPIX HD Is Cablevision's HD Channel Of The Day, As Part Of The Company's Continuing "45 Days in HD, on iO TV(SM)" Countdown

Ongoing Salute To Excellence In HD Programming Recognizes Each Of The 45 High-Definition Services iO TV Customers Receive At No Additional Cost

Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) January 22, 2008 -- Cablevision Systems Corp. today is recognizing CW11/WPIX HD as its HD Channel of the Day, as part of the ongoing "45 Days in HD, on iO TV" countdown.

Available to Cablevision's iO TV customers on channel 711, CW11/WPIX HD is the flagship station of The CW Television Network, and its brand of successful programming, award winning news, extensive library of hit movies, off-network sitcom favorites like "Two and a Half Men," "Family Guy" and "According to Jim," quality children's programming and public affairs shows, as well as outstanding event coverage, which contribute to the station's growth. The CW11's primetime schedule includes such popular series as "America's Next Top Model," "Gossip Girl," "One Tree Hill," "Reaper," "Beauty and The Geek," "Everybody Hates Chris," "Aliens in America," "Smallville," "Supernatural," and "Friday Night Smackdown." In addition, The CW11 has been the official broadcast television home of the New York Mets since 1999.

During the countdown, Cablevision is recognizing each of the 45 high-definition services iO customers receive at no additional cost, including all nine local professional sports teams in HD. Unlike its satellite and phone company competitors, Cablevision does not impose additional fees and charges on customers who want to "see" in HD.

"We are pleased to honor CW 11 HD as today's Channel of the Day in Cablevision's ongoing '45 Days In HD, On iO TV' countdown," said John Trierweiler, Cablevision's senior vice president of product management. "CW 11 HD is a great example of the quality and diversity of high-definition programming iO customers enjoy."

FEATURED CW11/WPIX HD PROGRAMMING FOR JANUARY 22, 2008 includes:

"TWO AND A HALF MEN" - (7:00 and 11:30 p.m. ET)
Emmy Award-nominated TWO AND A HALF MEN is a comedy about relationships and the lives of two brothers, one brother's son, and the many women who surround them. Charlie Harper (Charlie Sheen) is a well-to-do bachelor with a house at the beach, a Mercedes in the garage and an easy way with women. His casual Malibu lifestyle is interrupted when his tightly wound brother, Alan (Jon Cryer), and Alan's son, Jake (Angus T. Jones), come to stay with him. Despite the complexities of their lives and their own strained relationship, they manage to create a little family unit that promises to make each of them a better man.

"REAPER" - (8:00 - 9:00 p.m. ET)
Critically acclaimed REAPER is the story of a slacker named Sam (Bret Harrison) who learns that his parents accidentally sold his soul to the devil before he was born, forcing him into a new life as the devil's bounty hunter. Ray Wise plays Satan, and Tyler Labine plays Sam's comedic best friend Bert "Sock" Wysocki.

"ONE TREE HILL" -- (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET)
The CW Network's hit drama ONE TREE HILL returns for a fifth season with the show fast forwarding four years. Season four ended as the young characters graduated high school and the new season takes place post-college, four years later. In this episode, Brooke (Sophia Bush) makes plans for her clothing line; Peyton (Hilarie Burton) has her hands full when the musician (guest star Kevin Federline) she just signed turns out to be problematic. Haley's (Bethany Joy Galeotti) interest in music leads her back to the recording studio. Nathan's (James Lafferty) efforts to corral defiant player Quentin (guest star Robbie Jones) are unsuccessful. Meanwhile, Mouth's (Lee Norris) relationship with his boss grows heated. Chad Michael Murray and Antwon Tanner also star.

Cablevision's high-definition line-up has more than doubled over the last year, and the company has the capacity today to deliver hundreds of channels of high-definition programming over its fully-deployed fiber optic network. More than 900,000 of Cablevision's nearly 2.6 million iO TV customers have at least one high-definition television and HD-cable set-top box in the home.

In an effort to drive consumer awareness and continued adoption of HDTV, Cablevision recently launched a retail partnership with P.C. Richard & Son, the New York metropolitan area's leading consumer appliance and electronics retailer, which allows customers to conveniently sign up for all three Optimum products - iO TV digital cable, Optimum Online high-speed Internet access and Optimum Voice phone service - at 35 P.C. Richard & Son retail locations in Cablevision's service territory. Cablevision is also providing its award-winning digital cable service to more than 30 store locations, so customers can experience the best in high-definition programming while they shop for a new HD television set.

Nearly 83 percent of Cablevision's cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers, the highest digital penetration in the nation. iO TV offers customers access to more than 360 channels, including 53 premium movie channels, 48 channels of commercial-free digital music, more than 1,800 titles available on demand at all times, an interactive programming guide, 45 high-definition programming services and groundbreaking interactive television applications including News 12 Interactive.
