Laugh and Cry Along at the Crazy Animal Antics Inside Adopted Pets' Story

Animal lover Retz Reeves shares the good, the bad and the ugly about living with six adopted dogs and cats in her new book "Adopted Paws."

Islamorada, FL (PRWEB) January 21, 2008 -- Anyone who has ever loved and lost a favorite pet will fondly relate to Retz Reeves' new book about living with half a dozen adopted dogs and cats, titled "Adopted Paws" (ISBN 9781424169412, PublishAmerica, 2007).

The heroine of "Adopted Paws" is Molly, a cat with feline AIDS. Reeves and her husband adopted Molly and her kittens, Lucky and Cali, but didn't find out she had AIDS until later, when she began behaving strangely. "Adopted Paws" will tug on all readers' heartstrings by retelling the Reeves' journey with Molly, from the cat's diagnosis, to their care during her numerous ear infections and finally to her last days.

But "Adopted Paws" is certainly not all tears and sadness--as any pet owner knows, pets can bring heaps of joy and laughter, and the Reeves' critters are no exception. Inconvenient hairballs, snoring canines, a cat that thinks he's a dog and much, much, more bring genuinely hilarious moments to "Adopted Paws."

Keeping dogs and cats together is sure to present its own set of challenges, and Reeves doesn't skimp on the details here. Whether the cats and dogs are getting along or waging war against each other, their interactions provide some of the funniest and most touching moments in the book.

Reeves travels quite a bit for her job and she maintains that coming home to a big, furry welcome from her pets is one of the greatest feelings in the world. "Animals give love without fear or reserve," Reeves says. "They are much more honest than most people and they bring people together."

In fact, Bo-Jo, Reeves' husband's dog, played a key role in originally bringing the couple together. "Adopted Paws" begins with the Reeves' adorable love story and goes on to tell about each and every new critter they adopted together since marrying. No matter how many pets you own, animal lovers everywhere will enjoy this real life tale of adopted joy.
