Pastor Uses Past Mistakes to Right Wrongs of Today's Believers

Says modern church is in the same position as Israel in Amos' day,

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) January 20, 2008 -- Now more than ever, a wake-up call is needed for a new generation of Christians who are at ease in Zion. The candy-coated message of the pop culture church of this generation was made ever more apparent to author Dr. Kent T. Rabe when he was arrested and incarcerated in 2000 at Montana State Prison. Through his own fall from the ministry, Rabe says he learned some valuable lessons which he hopes to impart to his readers in The False Security of the Believer (paperback, 978-1-60477-358-3)--lessons which point to the fact that the modern church is in much the same condition as Israel during Amos' day. "America, the church, and the home are not as secure as we might believe them to be," he says. "Israel thought they were safe, but in reality nothing was farther from the truth."

Rabe is convinced he can use his painful experiences to help others avoid the mistakes he made. After repenting of his sinful behavior and finding forgiveness with God, he dedicated himself to helping others who might be headed down the same destructive path free themselves before it is too late: "Sex offenders are in the news every day," he says. "But most of them were not pastors before they committed their offense. That gives me a unique perspective which few Christian writers have. I refuse to just lay down and die, as some would have me do. I am determined to use my tragic misdeeds and their consequences to warn others of the danger to come."

The author's scholarly exposition of the book of Amos has already won rave reviews for its insight and candor: "This book has caused me more than ever to find out what pleases God," says Dr. Cal Streeter of First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. "I would encourage every child of God to read (it)."
