Expositional Commentary Tackles Life of Great Bible Leader

Dissects Nehemiah in a way that resonates with scholars and laymen.

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) January 20, 2008 -- The book of Nehemiah, historically regarded as a continuation of the book of Ezra in the Old Testament, recounts the rebuilding of Jerusalem's wall and the renewal of the spiritual alliance between God and His chosen people, the Jews, many years after their defeat at the hands of the Babylonians. As such, Nehemiah is often overlooked by publishers of biblical commentaries, and books regarding this topic are scarce to be found. Now Israel P. Loken, a gifted interpreter of God's Word, has penned Nehemiah ($14.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-441-2) as part of his Loken Expositional Commentary Series. Readers will enjoy the readable, section-by-section exposition of the biblical text. Each commentary -- transliterated from the original Greek, Hebrew and Aramaic words -- includes a selected bibliography from which both the serious scholar and layperson alike will profit. The series is also ideal for Sunday school and small group studies.

Says Loken, "I hope readers will gain a deeper understanding of the book of Nehemiah. The study of the Scriptures can transform lives. The reader will become a better leader as he studies the life of one of the great leaders of the Bible."

As a college professor for more than 10 years -- both at College of Biblical Studies and Dallas Theological Seminary -- the Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin, native has taught through the entire Bible more than 10 times, and this has yielded a plethora of new insights with each additional reading. "My goals in life are to teach God's Word on the college level and write commentaries," Loken says, noting that "I am living my dream!"
