Indie Musician Gabriel Mireles Finds Sonicbids EPK™ Effective Promotional Tool

Boston-based indie singer/songwriter, Gabriel Mireles, used his Sonicbids EPK™ (electronic press kit) recently to land a gig at Kenny's Castaways in NYC's Greenwich Village on January 24th at 8 PM.

Boston, MA (PRWEB) January 23, 2008 -- Boston-based indie singer/songwriter, Gabriel Mireles, used his Sonicbids EPK™ (electronic press kit) recently to land a gig at Kenny's Castaways in NYC's Greenwich Village. Mireles had intended to invest in a traditional press kit but found the online site provides everything he needs for self-promotion. "My EPK is easy and inexpensive to email to club owners and promoters," he said. "It contains everything they're looking for: bio information, photos, mp3 files, video clips, calendar, equipment needs--you name it."

Getting started as a musician is expensive and time consuming. As a solo artist Mireles is responsible for writing and performing his music and booking and promoting his gigs. Sonicbids makes it easy for musicians and promoters to connect with each other online. The site includes access to gig listings, a powerful community, and the eco-friendly Sonicbids EPK. "I'm looking for ways to connect with club owners and promoters," he said. "I'm using my EPK to reach out to new audiences and provide them with samples of my music."

Mireles will be performing tomorrow night at Kenny's Castaways in Greenwich Village, starting at 8 p.m. The New York City night club was opened in 1967 by Patrick Kenny and quickly became known as the place for up and coming acts. Some of rock's biggest names have performed at Kenny's Castaways: Bruce Springsteen, Aerosmith, Yoko Ono, New York Dolls, Willie Dixon and Phish among others. Kenny's castaways celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2007.

Gabriel Mireles arrives at Kenny's Castaways armed with songs and guitar lines that clearly prove him a powerful musical force. But just as you think you have him pegged, the singer-songwriter and award-winning guitarist transforms into a later-day minstrel showering you with sensational, sometimes dream-like instrumentals as beautifully melodic as they are youthfully optimistic.

Kenny's Castaways is located at 157 Bleeker Street, in Greenwich Village. For more information visit www.kennyscastaways.com.

About Gabriel Mireles
Gabriel Mireles is a balladeer, whose lyrics personify his gift as a storyteller. His ballads and love songs place him among the best of today's American songwriters. Mireles draws from the emotions that run deep in each of us, revealing what we have all felt in matters close to the heart. He achieves this without being glib or saccharin but with a certain, very human sweetness, sensitivity and an honesty to which anyone can relate.

Although currently based in Boston, much of his material is a reflection of his experiences, relationships and social activism in New England as well as in his native Ohio. Gabriel has grown up in an atmosphere of artists, writers, and musicians. Gatherings with family and friends seemed always to begin with, or eventually morph into musical jam sessions that would last late into the night. His parents nurtured his interest in music exposing him to everything from folk and blues to jazz, classical and pop as well as Latin music played by his Mexican-born father.

Mireles began to play the guitar at the age of twelve and almost immediately started to perform, with his inaugural performance at a fundraiser for the Homeless Awareness Project in Toledo, Ohio. During high school he played solo gigs and led a popular garage band, organizing a fundraiser with area musicians in support of the victims of Hurricane Mitch in Honduras. In 2001, Mireles won the Advance Music Guitar Summit in Burlington, Vermont, playing his instrumental composition, "Herring in a White Wine Sauce". Educated at Boston's Berklee College of Music, Gabriel Mireles performs at venues throughout the Boston-metro area. For more information visit www.sonicbid.com/gabrielmireles.
