His mother taught him the fifth grade via a school correspondence course. He lived with a Norwegian family and attended an American school in Oslo, Norway for his sixth grade year.

On returning to the states, his family settled in southern Illinois near his stepfather's parents, where he attended junior high and high school in Bridgeport, Illinois. He volunteered for duty for four years in the United States Air Force spending most of his tour in Austin, Texas. He transferred his college credits and graduated from Arizona State University, where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Telecommunications and Broadcasting, with a minor in business. He has always had a love for writing. With several starts and stops on various stories through the years, he has completed his current novel Into the Midnight Sun.
