MONSTERS HD Is Cablevision's HD Channel Of The Day, As Part Of The Company's Continuing "45 Days in HD, on iO TV(SM)" Countdown

Ongoing Salute To Excellence In HD Programming Recognizes Each Of The 45 High-Definition Services iO TV Customers Receive At No Additional Cost

Bethpage, NY (PRWEB) January 28, 2008 -- Cablevision Systems Corp. today is recognizing Monsters HD as its HD Channel of the Day, as part of the ongoing "45 Days in HD, on iO TV" countdown. Available to Cablevision's iO TV customers on channel 777, Monsters HD features is the first high-definition channel dedicated to all the things that go bump in the night. From the classic horrors of Dracula, Frankenstein and the Wolfman and prehistoric giants like King Kong and Godzilla, to supernatural terrors like The Evil Dead and The Exorcist as well as modern villains like Freddy, Jason and Leatherface, monster movies are presented in high-definition with blood-curdling clarity and spine-tingling sound.

During the countdown, Cablevision is recognizing each of the 45 high-definition services iO customers receive at no additional cost, including all nine local professional sports teams in HD. Unlike its satellite and phone company competitors, Cablevision does not impose additional fees and charges on customers who want to "see" in HD.

"Monsters HD on iO TV is the high-definition destination for horror fans seeking everything from classic horror films and legendary monsters to top directors and famous actors performing some of their most popular roles."

FEATURED PROGRAMMING FOR JANUARY 28, 2008 INCLUDES:

4:10 PM - TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD (1971)
The first in a series of four "Blind Dead" features, TOMBS OF THE BLIND DEAD is suitably creepy with a total feeling of decay, which suits the undead Templar knights, shown menacing their victims in slow motion by sense of sound.

5:35 PM - WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST (1958)
A mysterious series of food truck robberies makes government officials doubt that the 60-foot tall Colossal Man is dead. He is discovered in a desolate mountain range in Mexico, insane and horribly disfigured. The military drugs him and transports him back to America where he promptly escapes and wreaks havoc on a city.

7:10 PM - THE PEOPLE THAT TIME FORGOT (1977)
In this sequel to THE LAND THAT TIME FORGOT, Major Ben McBride organizes a mission to the Antarctic wastes to search for his friend (Doug McClure) who has been missing in the region for several years. McBride's party find themselves in a world populated by primitive warriors and terrifying prehistoric creatures, all of whom they must evade in order to get back safely.

8:25 PM - SAGA OF THE VIKING WOMEN (1957)
A group of lonely Viking women build a ship and set off across the sea to locate their missing men folk, only to fall into the clutches of the barbarians that also hold their men captive.

9:35 PM - THE SHE-CREATURE (1956)
The lovely assistant of an evil hypnotist has no idea that she is the descendant of a horrifying prehistoric sea monster. When the monster comes forth, she goes on a killing spree. A promoter learns about the hypnotist's shenanigans and figures a way to cash in on the death and destruction.

Cablevision's high-definition line-up has more than doubled over the last year, and the company has the capacity today to deliver hundreds of channels of high-definition programming over its fully-deployed fiber optic network. More than 900,000 of Cablevision's nearly 2.6 million iO TV customers have at least one high-definition television and HD-cable set-top box in the home.

In an effort to drive consumer awareness and continued adoption of HDTV, Cablevision recently launched a retail partnership with P.C. Richard & Son, the New York metropolitan area's leading consumer appliance and electronics retailer, which allows customers to conveniently sign up for all three Optimum products - iO TV digital cable, Optimum Online high-speed Internet access and Optimum Voice phone service - at 35 P.C. Richard & Son retail locations in Cablevision's service territory. Cablevision is also providing its award-winning digital cable service to more than 30 store locations, so customers can experience the best in high-definition programming while they shop for a new HD television set.

Nearly 83 percent of Cablevision's cable customers are iO TV digital cable customers, the highest digital penetration in the nation. iO TV offers customers access to more than 360 channels, including 53 premium movie channels, 48 channels of commercial-free digital music, more than 1,800 titles available on demand at all times, an interactive programming guide, 45 high-definition programming services and groundbreaking interactive television applications including News 12 Interactive.
