New Music With Oceanic Sounds In New York

February 6, 2008, 6PM, the contemporary music composer Emanuel Pimenta will perform his musical concert Deep Ocean at the Björn Ressle Contemporary Art Gallery in New York City.

New York, NY (PRWEB) January 27, 2008 -- February 6, 2008, 6PM, the contemporary music composer Emanuel Pimenta will perform his musical concert Deep Ocean at the Björn Ressle Contemporary Art Gallery in New York City. The concert, a premiere in the United States, works with sounds recorded in deep oceanic regions, from Alaska to the Marianna's trench in the Pacific Ocean, by NOAA National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. The musical piece was composed in homage to the Swiss philosopher René Berger and the world premiere was performed at the EPFL in Lausanne, Switzerland. The music score is totally created inside virtual environments, a technique Pimenta has developed since the end of the 1970's. Deep Ocean starts a new series of performances by the composer in New York City at the Björn Ressle Gallery. Emanuel Pimenta is composer for Merce Cunningham since 1986. With more than twenty compact discs in several countries, his music has been regularly performed in different parts of the world, such as the Lincoln Center in New York City, the Biennial of Venice, and also in Japan, Brazil, Switzerland, England and Portugal among others. Emanuel Pimenta was born in Brazil, has lived between Switzerland, and New York since 1985. He studied with Hans Joachim Koellreutter, pupil of Paul Hindemith, Hermann Scherchen and Marcel Moyse.
