Classic Turning Group Acquires Eaton Corporation Facility

The Classic Turning Group., a manufacturer of precision parts for the aerospace and other industries based in Jackson, Michigan, will acquire a 67,000 square foot facility from Eaton Corporation.

Jackson, MI (PRWEB) January 31, 2008 -- While many of Michigan's automotive firms and their suppliers are downsizing or leaving the state, Classic Turning, Inc., a world-class manufacturer of precision parts for the aerospace and other industries continues to expand. Today the company announced that it will acquire a 67,000 square foot facility from Eaton Corporation.

"We are very excited about this acquisition," said Philip J. Curtis a principal of Classic Turning, Inc. and managing partner of the law firm of Curtis & Curtis, P.C. "There has been a lot of concern in this community regarding jobs leaving Jackson and we are pleased we can continue to grow and add valuable jobs for our community," Curtis explained. The Eaton Aerospace facility located at 2500 W. Argyle St., Jackson, MI will be purchased by Argyle Properties, LLC which is one of five companies associated with Classic Turning, Inc., all of which are owned by Scott A. Brockie, Philip J. Curtis, and Bradley Nall. The other companies include Classic Racing Products, LLC, which supplies precision parts to the auto racing industry, Classic Metal Finishing, Inc, a metal finishing company, and Classic Property, LLC.

The 67,000 square foot facility will be occupied by Classic Turning, Inc. and Classic Metal Finishing, Inc. Classic Turning will expand its current operation from its 3000 E. South St. headquarters to the Argyle St. facility. Classic Metal Finishing will specialize in anodizing, passavation, and other metal finishing processes. "This acquisition will allow us to provide complimentary services to our customers and other suppliers in the area, and provide us with some much needed additional space," said Scott Brockie, President and CEO of Classic Turning, Inc., and Classic Metal Finishing, Inc. It is anticipated that other suppliers of ancillary services to the aerospace industry will be housed in the facility.

"We are finalizing our transition plan now but we should be operational in the Argyle facility by the end of February," said Brockie. Classic Metal Finishing will be hiring between 6 and 10 employees in its first year and plans to employ 15 or more by the end of 2009, and will invest upwards of $500,000 in new equipment during that time.

Classic Turning, which has been in operation since 1982, and currently has 108 employees, plans to invest over $2.5 million in new equipment for its expansion at the Argyle St. facility. "When I first became involved with Classic Turning we had a small, one room shop with a few machines," said Brad Nall, Vice President of Manufacturing for both Classic Turning and Classic Metal Finishing. "The growth we have experienced has been phenomenal and I'm glad we can provide some positive economic support for this community," Nall added. Classic Turning anticipates that its latest expansion will add up to 17 new employees to its payroll in 2008 and 25 by the end of the 2009.
