Centerville, MA (PRWEB) February 1, 2008 -- Ecobuild America, the annual conference and exhibit focused on Sustainable, Green and High-Performance Solutions for the Built Environment, is pleased to announce the addition of S*P*E*C*S - Selling Products Effectively to Construction Specifiers™ to its 2008 event May 19-22 in Anaheim, CA.

The one day S*P*E*C*S training, presented by Michael Chusid of Chusid Associates, will take place Tuesday, May 20th at the Anaheim Convention Center from 9am-4pm. Endorsed by the Los Angeles Chapter of Construction Specification Institute and Specifications Consultants in Independent Practice (SCIP), S*P*E*C*S is the ultimate sales training program for building product sales professionals. More than two thousand building product sales and marketing professionals have already benefited from Michael Chusid's insights into the specification selling process. This program hands product manufacturers and sales reps the keys to unlock the profit potential of getting into the architect's, engineer's, or building owner's specifications. It also gives them the tools needed to guard against - or make - substitutions. Stressing a consultative selling approach and the importance of relationships, Chusid demystifies the specification process and shows attendees how to turn design professionals into allies and customers.

Special emphasis will be placed on the marketing of green and sustainable products and Green Globes, EnergyStar and LEED product certification/rating systems. Mr. Chusid notes, "It doesn't matter how green your product is if you still don't know how to get in the door at a designer's office." Therefore, S*P*E*C*S training will cover:

  • What makes a product green.
  • How to market the potential of your product according to various rating systems
  • Walking the Talk - Greening your own operations.
  • CSI's GreenFormat and other emerging marketing tools.
  • Can "Carbon Neutral" be a part of your product features and benefits.

Michael Chusid has more than 30 years of experience in the building products industry. Before starting Chusid Associates in 1985, Michael studied in Buckminster Fuller's design department at Southern Illinois University, earned a master of architecture degree from University of Illinois, worked for Inryco - a major building product manufacturer, completed an architectural internship, and was director of specifications for a major architectural and engineering firm. Michael is a licensed architect, a Fellow of the Construction Specifications Institute, and a Certified Construction Specifier. His architectural projects have won design awards from the American Institute of Architects and the American Society of Interior Designers. He is a member of Construction Writers Association, Specification Consultants in Independent Practice, and American Concrete Institute. Mr. Chusid notes, "I am excited to bring S*P*E*C*S to Ecobuild America as it complements the high caliber of education for which Ecobuild has become known."

Registration cost for S*P*E*C*S is $345 by the early-bird deadline and $395 thereafter. Attendees will also have the option of selecting this program as part of their 3-Day Passport, which is priced at $695 by the early-bird deadline and $795 thereafter.
