Interlochen Center for the Arts to Host Student Film Festival

The motion picture arts division at Interlochen Center for the Arts is seeking film submissions for its Future of Cinema International Film Festival. The festival will take place in April on the campus of Interlochen Center for the Arts.

Interlochen, Mich. (PRWEB) February 6, 2008 -- The motion picture arts program at Interlochen Center for the Arts is seeking film submissions for its Future of Cinema International Film Festival. The festival is open to all high school students. The priority date for submission is February 28, 2008 with a late submission date of March 25, 2008. The two-day festival will take place at the DeRoy Center for Film Studies on the campus of Interlochen Center for the Arts on April 19 and 20, 2008.

The festival is for student filmmakers seeking a global community of other passionate, driven high school students in cinema. The inaugural festival will screen the best work of high school students from the U.S. and internationally.

"The goal for the festival is to create a summit atmosphere allowing students to determine their roles as filmmakers," said Michael Mittelstaedt, director of the motion picture arts program at Interlochen Center for the Arts. "Young filmmakers will form relationships that will serve them in their college and professional lives."

Participants will be invited to join the Future of Cinema Union, a collection of students interested in film. The union will encourage collaboration by allowing students to post casting and crew calls and network.

Students in the motion picture arts division study the fundamental components of screenwriting and production in the most advanced facilities available to high school students. Programs are offered through Interlochen Arts Camp, a six-week summer session and the Interlochen Arts Academy, a fine arts boarding high school.
