Severely Injured Iraq War Veteran to Receive Home from Homes For Our Troops

Non-profit group rallies community and corporate sponsors to build a specially adapted home for SSG Paul "Russ" Marek. Homes for Our Troops, President, John Gonsalves, will hold a press conference at the vacant lot located at 1827 Croghan Drive, Melbourne, FL 32940 on February 15, 2008 at 1:00 PM to announce the beginning of this project.

Melbourne, FL (PRWEB) February 13, 2008 -- Homes for Our Troops, a Massachusetts based 501 (c)(3) organization that builds and adapts homes for handicap accessibility for our most severely wounded veterans will be reaching out to the local community members to help provide a new home for SSG Russ Marek.

SSG Paul "Russ" Marek was serving with the 4th Battalion, 64th Armor Regiment of the Army's 3rd Infantry Division in Iraq when he the tank he was riding in was destroyed by an IED (Improvised Explosive Device). Three of his crew members perished in the explosion and Russ lost his right leg, right arm, right ear, his left thumb, suffered a brain injury and received severe burns over 20% of his body.

Homes for Our Troops has completed 22 Homes through out the US and has an additional 20 projects in various stages of construction. Now Homes for Our Troops is hoping to replicate the local business involvement and the community volunteerism in the Melbourne area for another wounded American Hero.

The framing structure for Russ's home has been donated by METALCON. Homes for Our Troops is calling on local residents and businesses to donate additional building materials, services, professional building labor and monetary donations to help complete Russ's home.
