Icebox And Regards.Com Launch Irreverant E-Cards In Time For Valentine's Day

Top TV writers from The Simpsons, King Of The Hill and "24" Team with the leader in e-cards to create adult humor site.
Congratulations on the baby and staying off meth for nine months!

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 12, 2008 -- Icebox, a pioneer in irreverent animation for the Web and Regards.com, the premier online greeting card site, announced today that the two companies are spearheading a new venture, RegardsBox. The site will feature smart, funny, edgy and unique E-Cards from Hollywood's top writers.

The site launched today, just in time for Valentine's Day, with cards like, "Tonight when we're doing it, I'm going to close my eyes and think of you," "Congratulations on the baby and staying off meth for nine months!" And "Flowers die in a week, but this e-card lasts until you delete it to free up inbox space." Some of the cards will feature characters from popular Icebox shows like Zombie College, Superhero Roommate and Poker Night.

"At its heart, Icebox is a writer-driven company. We all seem to have a lot of time on our hands with the writers' strike, so it was either write epic novels or online greeting cards," said Howard Gordon, Icebox co-founder and showrunner of 24. "That's kind of a no-brainer when you're staring at the blank page."

"Regards.com is where you go when you're looking for a great E-Card. We're excited to work with them and to bring some comedy edge to greeting cards," said John Collier, Icebox co-founder and co-executive producer of The Simpsons.

Last year over 500 million e-cards were sent to express sentiments ranging from Happy Birthday to Thinking of You. "We already cover these occasions on Regards.com in the traditional way and believe we do a great job of it," says Scot Robinson, one of the three Regards.com founders. "However, we felt that no one was catering to the large segment of the market who watch late night television, enjoy R-rated films and like to share adult-themed emails from time-to-time. When we were approached by the Icebox founders we realized that we had the opportunity to create something truly special. Not only will we be bringing an adult twist to the traditional E-CARD categories, we will also be creating cards in new, fun categories like I want to break-up with you and Online Love."

All e-cards on RegardsBox will be free for users and will feature original illustrations. The site will be advertiser and sponsorship supported and printed cards featuring the same content available on the website can be purchased online.

"Icebox has always been about pushing the envelope of humor in any media. We've worked in feature films, television, and of course the Internet. RegardsBox is another great way for us to reach an audience and expand our business model," noted Tal Vigderson, co-founder and managing director of Icebox.

RegardsBox will feature cards with traditional messages and some non-traditional ones as well. "What card do you send someone who's just had a colonoscopy?" asked Rob Lazebnik, co-founder of Icebox and current producer of Monk. "We've got something for that."
