Online Poker Insider Announces Best And Worst Awards For 2007

Online Poker Insider, a well-respected and independent online poker portal, announced the best and the worst in Internet poker for 2007. The full list of sites that received awards is available on their website at http://www.online-poker-insider.com.

Las Vegas, NV (PRWEB) February 13, 2008 -- The 2007 online poker awards were announced yesterday on http://www.online-poker-insider.com, one of the leading independent online poker portals on the Internet. There were winners and losers with an award for the Best Online Poker Room of the Year as well as the dreaded Worst Online Poker Room Of The Year category as well.

The top online poker room for 2007 was the one that all the big players in the industry wanted to win and it came as no surprise when Full Tilt Poker scooped the most prestigious honor of the night. Even though last year was a particularly difficult one for many online poker web sites with the passing of the UIGEA bill and questions raised about the integrity of certain leading operators there was still fierce competition for this award.

Full Tilt Poker was ideally positioned to take advantage of the adverse American legislation, and gained so much market share that it was impossible for us to ignore their substantial achievements over the past twelve months. They were worthy winners on the night.
"Online poker players are not going to disappear, and last year proved that this is a sustainable industry and not a passing fad," said Marc W, the senior editor and flagship columnist for the Insider portal. "Full Tilt Poker was ideally positioned to take advantage of the adverse American legislation, and gained so much market share that it was impossible for us to ignore their substantial achievements over the past twelve months. They were worthy winners on the night."

Other winners included Poker Stars for Best Online Poker Tournaments Of The Year and Bodog Poker for Best Customer Service Of The Year.

The one category that no one wanted to win was the raspberry for Worst Online Poker Room of the Year. This one was apparently a shoe-in following the internal cheating scandal that rocked Absolute Poker late in 2007. "The resilience shown by online poker players in general and Absolute in particular has to be admired, but there remains little doubt that no poker room endured a worse year than these guys," said Marc W.
