F3 MotorSports Unveils Mark I Steering Damper
F3 MotorSports has introduced its Mark I steering damper for use on professional endurance road racing motorcycles. The damper uses magnetorheological fluid technology to instantenously sense and react to shock and vibration.
Indianapolis, IN (PRWEB) February 15, 2008 -- F3 MotorSports, a New Jersey company that develops and produces proprietary motion control products for professional racing and high-performance sportbikes, introduced its revolutionary F3 Mark I Steering Damper today at the International Powersports Expo in Indianapolis.
Using magnetorheological fluid technology developed for use on carrier-based U. S. Navy aircraft, the Mark I adjusts immediately to forces on the front-end, eliminating virtually all instances of head-shake, and most conditions that cause tank-slappers.
Magnetorheological fluids are actively controlled fluids that change viscosity almost instantly and automatically respond to dynamic conditions using signals from electronic sensors and microprocessors. Coupled within a closed loop control system to sense and react to shock and vibration in less than one millisecond, the damper attenuates front-end vibration to the point it is not noticeable, providing more control in the turns and allowing the rider to roll the power on sooner coming out of the turns.
Track tested by 14-time Grand Prix National champion Mike Himmelsbach, the Mark I has consistently proven its preemptive ability to control steering, even under the most intense racing conditions.
"The wide range of adjustability is more than what is offered by any other damper currently on the market," Himmelsbach said, noting the Mark I is the only damper he's tested that eliminates all head-shake coming out of Turn 10 at Summit Point.
Himmelsbach will be using this technology as the newest member of the Aprilia USA/ Lloyd Brothers Motor-sports, Inc. endurance race team. Lloyd Brothers Motor-sports, Inc. continued its partnership with Aprilia USA contesting the 2007 AMA Grand National Twins Flat Track Series, qualifying for seven main events. In its first year endurance road racing with Aprilia, Lloyd Brothers Motor-sports, Inc. captured the 2007 championship in the Grand American Sun Trust Moto-ST series winning three of the six races.
