LA Fashion Week in March: Where "Green" is Red Hot

Eco Friendly design is all the rage, and René Geneva Design's Sustainble~Organic~Contemporary~Apparel™ brand is breaking boundaries.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) February 28, 2008 -- New York Fashion Week was taken by storm with Earth Pledge's Future of Fashion fashion show, and if you missed out, you'll have another chance to view fabulous eco-friendly fashions at LA's Fashion Week this March.

Celebrating their 11th year, exclusively eco-friendly design house René Geneva Design will take the stage again at Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Los Angeles at The Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show with fashion-forward funky looks, inspired by Japanese historical architecture that span from bridal to eveningwear to streetwear. Corsets will remain front and center with Ms. Geneva's designs, as it is their specialty, combined with phenomenal layered looks. This season, plan on seeing hemp and organic wool like you have never seen it before, in elegant forms and geometric lines with their new SOCA line, or Sustainable~Organic~Contemporary~Apparel™.

Wholefoods Marketplace quickly placed an order for Geneva's fashions after showing at LA Fashion Week, whom beginning March 1, is carrying some of RGD's midline, casual dresses as well as organic clothing designed specifically with the Wholefoods customer in mind. "Our specialty lies in working with the small boutique as we enjoy dealing with each boutique owner and their needs, but it is equally as exciting to be designing with a bigger market in mind, to see what boundaries can be expanded, and to help educate a larger audience," says René.

This season, they are teamed up with EcoClean non-toxic drycleaning and laundry to help educate consumers about the organic options dealing with the care of fine garments. The René Geneva designed brand SOCA or Sustainable~Organic~Contemporary~Clothing™ designates their drycleanable designs which includes educational labeling regarding "wet cleaning" with each of their garments. Wet cleaning is a form of cleaning your dry cleanable goods with an "environmentally sound process that protects fabrics and leaves clothes with no chemical residue." Explains Conrad, from EcoClean. Most importantly, it is PERC free, in which the EPA 'has identified perc as a probable carcinogen and a hazardous air and ground water pollutant.'

Education is a key inspiration with René Geneva Design's constantly-renewing direction. The foundation of their company, Ms. Geneva has worked directly with a fair trade women's cooperative in Nicaragua and all of their fair wage labor. Last season they joined forces with Live it Green, LLC and created their Fashionably Neutral™ program to provide carbon neutral clothing, or organic clothing that has also been relieved of its carbon footprint by donating to Native Energy's windfarm projects.

René Geneva Design will show at The Green Initiative Humanitarian Fashion Show for LA Fashion Week on March 12, 2008 at Smashbox Studio's, 6pm in Culver City. Please RSVP to info@mycorset.com .

You may also see their designs at LA Market Week at The Gallery LA Showroom in The Cooper Building, 1st Floor, Lobby I from March 14-18th.
