Nancy R. Koerner, Author of Belize Survivor: Darker Side of Paradise, Teams with Songwriter, Carlene Thissen, as 'Authors of Note'

SW Florida authors, Nancy R. Koerner and Carlene Thissen, create musical partnership to benefit migrant workers, the arts, abused women and other charitable causes.

Naples, FL (PRWEB) March 2, 2008 -- Belize Survivor: Darker Side of Paradise author, Nancy R. Koerner, announces liaison with Carlene Thissen, author of Immokalee's Fields of Hope, in the formation of a new musical enterprise, "Authors of Note."

Koerner, former professional singer and flautist for a well-known Florida harp/guitar-and-flute duo, and Thissen, a singer/songwriter, acoustic guitarist and longtime folk-singer, have recently joined forces to perform charity events ranging from non-profit housing for farm workers, to benefits for the arts, and fund raisers for abused women and children.

Belize Survivor: Darker Side of Paradise, based on Koerner's own true story, depicts a paradox of tropical splendor and domestic violence in an exotic foreign land, and its release launched the author's passionate personal campaign as a proponent of the abused. Now, as a champion of the underdog, and an affiliate of the National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, Ms. Koerner carries her inspirational message to shelters, book clubs, high schools, colleges and universities, helping women and teens understand the insidious causes of abuse, to recognize its escalation, and to encourage the critical mandate of escape.

Carlene Thissen began her humanitarian journey teaching music to children of farm workers. After hearing the amazing and often desperate stories that brought immigrants from Mexico, Haiti and Guatemala, she earned her Master's Degree in Latin American history and wrote Immokalee's Fields of Hope. Thissen also writes music and produces music videos to illustrate her book and "help soften hearts."

Now together, as "Authors of Note," these two successful and talented writer-musicians aspire to serve their community, and the world, by raising awareness and making a positive impact on poverty, fair labor and advocacy against domestic violence.

Belize Survivor: Darker Side of Paradise and Immokalee's Fields of Hope are available through major retail bookstores, as well as online distribution channels such as Amazon, Barnes & Noble and Borders. Personally inscribed autographed copies of Belize Survivor: Darker Side of Paradise are available at www.belizesurvivor.com with a portion of all direct-from-the-author proceeds benefiting the Shelter for Abused Women and Children of Naples.
