California Auto Defect Law Firm Bisnar Chase Wins

Ford Motor Company agreed to an out-of-court settlement for a "Confidential" amount of an automobile defect claim brought by Gloria Levesque who was a passenger in a Ford Expedition that rolled over. The Expedition's defective roof collapsed, causing Levesque to become a quadriplegic. California automobile defect law firm Bisnar Chase represented Levesque.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 5, 2008 -- Ford Motor Company agreed to an out-of-court settlement of an automobile defect case brought by Gloria Levesque, who was seriously injured in a Ford Expedition. The settlement was reached on the condition that the terms remain confidential. This case had resulted in a hung jury after a three week trial last December in Los Angeles County Superior Court, case number BC313548.

The California automobile defect law firm of Bisnar Chase represented Levesque in her action against Ford.

If Ford had just added strength to the roof structure, at a cost of about $30 per vehicle, Mrs. Levesque would not have suffered such severe personal injury, causing her to become a quadriplegic.
On the afternoon of July 25, 2003, Levesque was a passenger in a Ford Expedition traveling southbound on Interstate 5 in Fresno County. The driver swerved to avoid a collision, losing control and rolling over several times. The defective roof collapsed, causing Levesque such severe head and spinal injuries that she became quadriplegic.

According to the lawsuit, Ford knew of the dangerous roof defect of the Expedition, knowingly exposing Levesque and other users of the Ford Expedition to potentially serious, life-threatening danger. Ford put their financial interests ahead of consumer welfare, according to the lawsuit.

"Ford's SUVs are not built strong enough to protect the front seat occupants from being catastrophically injured during a rollover, says Brian Chase, partner in Bisnar Chase. "Ford has known this fact for years. However, Ford chooses to ignore this inherent safety problem in order to save $30 per vehicle."

"We are pleased that Ford settled, but I am sure Gloria Levesque would rather have the use of her arms and legs," said John Bisnar, founder and partner of Bisnar Chase. "If Ford had just added strength to the roof structure, at a cost of about $30 per vehicle, Mrs. Levesque would not have suffered such severe personal injury, causing her to become a quadriplegic."
