VacationsMadeEasy.com Highlights St. Patrick’s Day Celebrations Held Across the Nation

VacationsMadeEasy.com has highlighted the various happenings around the nation on their event calendars to help you when planning your next St. Patrick’s Day vacation.

Springfield, MO (PRWEB) March 7, 2008 -- Every year, St. Patrick’s Day brings about revelry and celebration throughout the United States. And while you can find parades, parties and the like happening in every city from the Long Island shores to Long Beach, CA, there are a few areas that routinely seem to cause excitement above and beyond the typical fervor found throughout the nation. In particular, Chicago, IL; New York City, NY; and Savannah, GA all offer an authentic St. Patrick’s Day celebration that can present the perfect activity to center an early spring vacation around. And VacationsMadeEasy.com has highlighted the various happenings around the nation on their event calendars to help you when planning your next St. Patrick’s Day vacation.

In Chicago, travelers will find two great parade options and one unbelievably green river for a setting that can offer more excitement than any one person could possibly experience. On March 15, at 10:45 a.m., the Chicago River will be transformed into a vibrant shade of Emerald green for a site that offers magical sentiments of Ireland, while presenting a festive way to kick off Chicago’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade. The parade, set to start at 12:00 p.m., will begin at Balbo and Columbus, proceeding north on Columbus Drive.

Further south, in Savannah, St. Patrick’s Day travelers will find one of the nation’s largest St. Patrick’s Day parade celebrations taking place on March 14. The day will begin with Mass at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, with the parade set to start at 10:15 a.m.

And then there is New York City. Heralded as the oldest St. Patrick’s Day parade in the nation, the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade will be presented for its 247th year on March 17. The actual parade is scheduled to start at 11:00 a.m., beginning at 44th Street and proceeding south down 5th Avenue to 86th Street. And while the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade certainly gains the majority of attention, there are a number of other parades held throughout the five burroughs of NYC. Other parades set to be held include the Brooklyn St. Patrick’s Day Parade, set for March 16 at 1:00 p.m.; Staten Island St. Patrick’s Day Parade, set for March 9 at 12:30 p.m.; and Throggs Neck Bronx St. Patrick’s Day Parade, set for March 16 at 12:00 p.m.
