Local Celebrity Collaborates with the Defender of the Universe

Local Celebrity, a t-shirt company based in Southern California, is releasing a new line of shirts inspired by Voltron - the Defender of the Universe.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 12, 2008 -- Local Celebrity is teaming up with Voltron - the Defender of the Universe to create an original series of Voltron t-shirts that are sure to be collector's items. Voltron was the #1 rated kids' show in 1984. Now all those kids are adults, and this collection is designed with them in mind.

"It all came about because the good folks managing Voltron wanted placement in the best stores like Kitson," said Local Celebrity founder Daniel Ballard. "Premium retail placement is a service we provide, and we were looking to expand our t-shirt collection into other categories such as Voltron, so it was a perfect match."

Designing the t-shirts was a fun process for the Local Celebrity team. The people managing Voltron sent a bunch of DVDs of the original TV series, so they got to watch them and caught Voltron fever all over again. They gathered all their materials, and began designing the shirts. Local Celebrity wanted to find the balance between keeping the shirts true to the classic TV series and doing a few unique, out-of-the-box concepts such as the Puma spin off t-shirt.

When they finished the designs, they submitted them for approval and were surprised at the Voltron group's attention to detail. The Local Celebrity team got a couple things mixed up, like the left leg is supposed to be yellow and they had made it blue, and they said the hard core fans would notice right away and would come after them with "blazing swords." Local Celebrity couldn't have that, so after they got all the details right and the art approved they were ready to launch the t-shirts.

When the shirts first appeared on the Local Celebrity Web site they were an immediate hit. People loved them, and they already have fans from across the world buying them.

The Voltron collection by Local Celebrity can be found in premium retail stores, and exclusively online at www.localcelebrity.com
