Florists Team Up to Find America's Favorite Mom

Nominate your mother, and she could win a year of flowers, up to $25,000 in cash, or appear on national TV.

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) March 14, 2008 -- Mother's Day week is historically the biggest single week of the year for flower deliveries in the U.S., but this year, florists are on a quest for more than just higher sales.

It's the 100th anniversary of Mother's Day, and thousands of Teleflora florists have teamed up to support an unprecedented multimedia and social networking event designed to give moms the special thanks and recognition they deserve.

Known as "America's Favorite Mom," the program lets anyone recognize their own mother -- and other moms, too -- for their positive impact on friends, loved ones, and the community at large. Through a special website launched exclusively for the event, both adults and children can "nominate" any mother with a brief note or childhood memory, post pictures, and even upload a family video.

Visitors can see the nominations and vote online for their favorites. Top moms will be eligible for a wide variety of impressive prizes and honors, including $5,000 for the most humorous mom, $5,000 for the most inspiring, and $25,000 for the most popular.

Other prizes for winning mothers include free bouquets, eighty-five $100 cash awards, and a year of flowers. Five winners will also be selected by viewers of the "Today" show and go on to star in a primetime NBC television special. "It's like YouTube, MySpace, and American Idol on steroids," said one observer.
