Atlanta Hair Designer Creates International Award-Winning "Hair Art" Masterpieces

But meanwhile, back in the U.S., Brenda Waters of Paragon Salon in Atlanta created her own stunning haute couture masterpieces by designing hair with such artistic flair that she won a prestigious Golden Scissors award.

Dubbed "The Hair Whisperer" by her colleagues because "when Brenda speaks, hair listens", Waters has a magical talent for transforming ordinary hair into extraordinary artwork. She was recently awarded "Best Overall Creation" in the 15th Annual Golden Scissors Awards photo competition for her photo entries of two of her latest works titled "Water" and "Fire".

Setting tradition ablaze, Waters kept the power of the elements in mind when crafting the two incredible creations. In one, fire becomes a smoldering hot Mohawk comprised of bright reds, flaming yellows, and vibrant oranges. In the other, Waters' own creative intuition and unique imagination agitate the often-tranquil element of water.

"I envisioned a storm on the high seas represented by an elegant ship crashing into waves of varying hues of blues and turquoise," Waters explains. She gives special credit to her     photographer, Brian Christian, adding, "His photography is absolutely amazing."

The Golden Scissors awards celebrate artistic expression and professional excellence in the hair, beauty, and fashion industries. Recipients are recognized during an internationally renowned red carpet event attended by more than 5,000 guests and covered by media outlets including the Washington Post, TV One, Upscale Magazine, and Suede, a new publication from the creators of Essence Magazine.
