CosmoGIRL! Celebrates a Totally Virtual Prom

CosmoGIRL! magazine is celebrating its first virtual prom event in the new CosmoGIRL! Village located in the 3D social virtual world, There.com. The magazine's partners for the event include ABC Family and ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 18, 2008 -- CosmoGIRL! magazine is celebrating its first virtual prom event in the new CosmoGIRL! Village located in the 3D social virtual world, There.com. The magazine's partners for the event include ABC Family and ACUVUE® Brand Contact Lenses.

In November, 2007 Makena Technologies, creator of There.com, partnered with CosmoGIRL! to extend its brand into the virtual world category. The CosmoGIRL! (CG!) Village is located along a beautiful sunny beach in There.com, where members can enjoy dance parties, fashion shows, spa makeovers, photo booths, live events, rich media and shopping for virtual and real-world clothing and accessories.

CosmoGIRL!'s first ever virtual prom event will take place on March 27th, 2008 at 8:00 PM EST/5:00 PM PST. To attend the virtual prom event, visit There.com and download the free software, create your avatar and log in. Then search for CosmoGIRL! Village and join in the fun.

Virtual prom activities include:

  • Video trailers for ABC Family's original reality series, "America's Prom Queen"
  • Avatar makeovers with colored contact lenses from ACUVUE®.
  • Virtual dance party at Club CG!
  • Photo opportunities with your avatar date on a virtual red carpet
  • Free give-away prizes, such as a virtual tiara inspired by "America's Prom Queen"
  • The first ever CG! Virtual Prom Queen and King Competition on the CG! Live Stage
  • The hottest prom after-party to hit the virtual world at the ACUVUE® OASYS™ Lounge
"Prom is a high school girl's biggest night of the year and we wanted to find a way to celebrate in both the real world and the virtual world," says CosmoGIRL! Associate Publisher Eric Schwarzkopf. "A virtual prom enables us to offer cutting edge ways to engage our readers with the brands and events they love most."

"CosmoGIRL! Village has been a huge success within There.com and is one of our most popular destinations," said Michael Wilson, the CEO of Makena Technologies. "We are really looking forward to this event and we know our community is very excited to be a part of it."
