ABOUT THE AUTHORS

Candice Hinckley is a native of Auburn, Maine. She wrote a newspaper column for several years and an article for Coping, a magazine for survivors of catastrophic illness and their caregivers. Candice currently resides in Central Pennsylvania, where her two children, Alison and Christopher, fly in and out of the nest.

Kathleen Kahler is also a Mainer, enjoys outdoor human-powered activities, and has written several articles for her local daily paper. She has a wonderfully supportive husband, Mark, who shares her passion for all things outdoors and natural. They are currently trading in their in-town lifestyle for a small plot of farmland, on which to raise gardens, goats, and grandchildren.
