Quinceanera Author Reveals How To Save Money and Still Have a Dream Celebration

People are experiencing financial hardships, because of the loss of jobs and continuing increases in gas prices. Priscilla Mills, author of the book for teens and their parents: Quinceanera Connection: Your Dream Celebration On Any Budget (www.quinceaneraconnect.com/quince/thebook.html) - identified the need for a guide to help the Quinceanera and her family during these difficult economic times as they plan her Quinceanera celebration.

Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) March 25, 2008 -- The Quinceanera Celebration is a Hispanic tradition dating back to the 1500s. At that time in history, fifteen-year-old girls celebrated their right of passage at a special mass of Thanksgiving at the local church. The mass was followed by a large fiesta attended by friends, family and the community. It's become very popular in the United States with a large number of families continuing to carry on with the beautiful Hispanic Quinceanera tradition.

Priscilla Mills (www.quinceaneraconnect.com) has an extensive background as a life coach, business consultant and event organizer. She combined the business principles she learned at Harvard Business School with her event organizing experience and life coaching skills and developed a no-fail system to create a successful event while working within a budget.

Alma Castro, one of the teens in the group, said her parents were so happy with the entire planning process for her Quinceanera celebration. Her parents felt grateful they have total control, no one is stressed out; and they were able to hire the best vendors for less than they thought they would have to pay.
Mills volunteered to assist a group of teens and their parents to assist them as they started to plan their Quinceanera celebration. She advised the girls to start thinking about what was most important to them for their Quinceanera celebration.

Next with a Quineanera Connect Bonus Workbook-Planner (www.quinceaneraconnect.com/quince/eplanner) in hand each girl met with her parents and discussed what was important to her for her special day. Since the girls had just attended a friends Quinceanera celebration they knew what they wanted. Their friends' party was very elaborate, but it wasn't what their friend had wanted. She told her friends after her reception was over, she was sad because she really wanted a smaller less pretentious party.

The girls' meeting with their parents was very successful. Each girl reported the open and honest discussions brought the family closer together. The girls' parents realized they didn't need to have an over-the-top party to please their daughter. The parents felt relived to know they wouldn't be judged by how elaborate the celebration was.

Each family worked out a projected financially comfortable budget. Even though close family members and friends had committed to participate as sponsors for their daughters' celebration, The parents were pleased they had worked out a smaller budget, knowing some of their sponsors were experiencing financial problems. They knew a smaller budget would be best for everyone involved.

It was back to the next meeting at which time each family compiled a list of venues and vendors from the referrals they received from friends and family.

The teens reported back they had set up appointments and visited three vendors from each category. They said each of their parents was relaxed at the vendor meetings, because they were prepared having all the facts together for the celebration. Maria Montoya said her father felt so confident; one vendor asked if he was a professional party planner.

"Eliana Garcia shared her parents had followed the advice from the book - Quinceanera Connection: Your Dream Celebration On Any Budget (www.quinceaneraconnect.com/quince/thebook.html) - about how to negotiate with vendors." She said it was amazing how well it worked. They all sat quietly and listened when the DJ was talking. She said the DJ offered a really low price, because he said he preferred to work with people who were easy to deal with.

  • Everyone followed the recommendations given for handling the vendor interviewing process.
  • They received a quote before leaving each vendor meeting.
  • Then they went home and discussed all the information they had obtained.
  • When they narrowed the list they had a follow up meeting with their favorite vendors to work out all the details for the services promised at the agreed price.
  • Before signing the contracts they had an attorney review them to make sure the contracts were written for their best interest.

"Alma Castro, one of the teens in the group, said her parents were so happy with the entire planning process for her Quinceanera celebration. Her parents felt grateful they have total control, no one is stressed out; and they were able to hire the best vendors for less than they thought they would have to pay." Alma shared her own excitement with a big smile - knowing her dream Quinceanera celebration was soon to become a reality.
