George A. Peters, II to Star in Critically Acclaimed One-Man Show ANY1MAN, March 24-27 at the 13th Street Repertory Theater

Morehouse Alumni George A. Peters, II stars in one-man show exploring the notion of Black masculinity. Through six different characters Peters tackles society's definitions of manhood and the conflicts encountered by Black men.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 23, 2008 -- After 5 Before 9 Productions is proud to announce the New York run of the thought-provoking one man show, Any1Man, starring George A Peters, II. This provocative journey through the lives and minds of six different black men attempting to define their masculinity has left audiences riveted across the country. The show, which has sold-out theaters in Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Dallas, will play March 24-27 at the 13th Street Repertory Company at 7 p.m.

Any1man was written by George A. Peters, II and Brandon F. Johnson, alumni of Morehouse College and was first performed in Atlanta in 2005. The story is told through six different characters who, though they differ greatly, easily represent the various faces of any one man trying to assert his identity despite the myriad of challenges facing Black men today. Each tackles his own personal demon whether it be lust, irresponsibility, gender confines or fear of success. Willie, a womanizing aspiring musician, is haunted by the abandonment of his dad. Wesley, a hopeful dancer and artist, feels forced to fit in to a gender construction of masculinity that doesn't include him. Bishop, a wise beggar, has lost his way on his road to success, and finds himself "missing." Together their voices mix to tell the story any one man's journey to find his masculinity, when he's not exactly clear what that means.

The show will play four performances at the 13th Street Repertory Theater, Monday, March 24 - Thursday, March 27 at 7 p.m. General Admission tickets will be sold for $15 and are available online at www.13thstreetrep.org. Any1Man is a show for all ages.

George A. Peters, II -- (writer, performer) A native of Voorhees, New Jersey, George Peters got his start at an early age. An only child, George began singing, dancing and performing for his family to keep himself entertained. By the tender age four he appeared in his first national commercial. While a student at Morehouse College, his passion for acting blossomed scoring lead roles in several student theater productions including Bishop Greene, Coons and God Bless The Child.Peters made his first break into the film world in 2002 with a small role in hit blockbuster film "Drumline." His television credits include hosting The Black Family Channel's "Souled Out." George has studied at The Actor's Workshop, and is currently touring as Dave in Plays for Living's People Like Us.
