Issues4Life Foundation African-American Leaders Must Do The Math

With an estimated 1,900 Black babies being aborted every day, African-American leaders must do the math, understand the impact of abortion on the African-American community and work together to demand the defunding of Planned Parenthood with U.S. taxpayer dollars.
Facts on Induced Abortion in the United States

Union City, CA (PRWEB) March 24, 2008 -- Walter B. Hoye II, Founder and President of the "Issues4Life Foundation" challenges African-American leaders to do the math and work together towards ending abortion.

According to the "Alan Guttmacher Institute (AGI)" fact sheet entitled "Facts on Induced Abortion in the United States" dated January 2008, 1.21 million abortions were performed in 2005, down from 1.31 million in 2000. In the same report Black women were 4.8 times as likely as non-Hispanic white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women were 2.7 times as likely.

While the total number of abortions performed has decreased, the total number of abortions in the African-American community has increased. Again, according to AGI, 1.21 million abortions were performed in 2005 and Black women were 4.8 times as likely as non-Hispanic white women to have an abortion, and Hispanic women are 2.7 times as likely. These numbers equate to 683,294 Black babies aborted in 2005. In other words, 56% of all legal abortions were performed on Black women in the year of our Lord Jesus Christ 2005.

Here is the formula (4.8x + 2.7x + x = 1.21) and the statistical breakdown of the above numbers:

  • 56,941 Black babies were aborted every month
  • 13,140 Black babies were aborted every week
  • . 1,871 Black babies were aborted every day
  • . . . . 78 Black babies were aborted every hour
  • . . . . 1.3 Black babies were aborted every minute

Ultimately, from 2000 to 2005, the total number of abortions performed on Black women increased by 153,040 aborted Black babies. Which amounts to the death of an additional 419 Black babies per day. These numbers represent an average annual increase of 30,608 aborted Black babies per year or an annual daily increase of 84 aborted Black babies per day.

To bring perspective to the impact of abortion in the African-American community, according to the population data provided by the "U.S. Census Bureau" Fact Sheet for 2006, 683,294 aborted Black babies is the equivalent of killing over five (5) times the entire African-American population of Oakland, California or killing more than the entire African-American population of Oakland, California, Washington, D.C. and Atlanta, Georgia combined.

Mr. Hoye calls for all African-American leaders to do the math and understand the impact of abortion on the African-American community. Hoye continues by saying; "Abortion is the Darfur of the African-American community. We must work together towards ending abortion by: 1) demanding the defunding of Planned Parenthood with U.S. taxpayer dollars, 2) supporting elected officials and/or political candidates who are pro-life and 3) offering Post-Abortion Counseling Education (P.A.C.E.) programs to meet the needs of the hearts and souls of the men, women and families who are struggling with the role they played in the death of their child."
