SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley) Institute Updates Certificate Training Curriculum for 2008

New academic year starts on April 1, 2008; New York City class is on April 2-4, 2008. SOX Institute’s revised certification training program sets a new milestone in the history of SOX training, not only by SOX Institute, but for the industry as a whole. Considered the most exhaustive and authoritative training, the new curriculum is even more robust.

New York, NY (PRWEB) March 24, 2008 -- SOX Institute (www.soxinstitute.org) has announced a new and improved curriculum for its 2008-2009 academic year. The new training program pulls together five years of SOX best-practice training and delivers it in a way that makes sense for today’s environment.

Based on the response and feedback that we receive from our students, we know that we are providing tremendous value
Specifically, some of the changes that were made in 2007 to the training curriculum have been brought forward into the 2008 curriculum (for example, PCAOB Auditing Standard 5), but at the same time elements around taking an integrated sustainable approach to 404 compliance have been introduced into it. Here is a high-level look at the new curriculum:

Day 1: Fundamentals of Sarbanes-Oxley
Day 2: SOX Section 404 Documentation
Day 3: SOX Section 404 Testing Controls
Day 4: 404 Project Lifecycle Management
Day 5: Review and/or Certification Exam

The new curriculum includes more exercises and case-studies than the previous one, and it enables and encourages extensive class discussion based on real-world practical aspects of SOX and in particular Section 404. One key element of the training is that it integrates all aspects of SOX including Accounting, Finance, Ethics, Audit, Law and IT, and is the only training program of its kind that enables cross-discipline discussion and sharing.

For many professionals this is often the first time that they experience an understanding of the holistic aspects of SOX compliance which is why many companies send their entire SOX teams to SOX Institute’s training, or frequently bring SOX Institute to deliver it on-site.

“Based on the response and feedback that we receive from our students, we know that we are providing tremendous value,” said Prof. Sanjay Anand, Chairperson of SOX Institute. “With the new 2008 curriculum we are even more excited because we have taken this to a whole new level,” he added. “We are very excited about this new curriculum,” said Anand.

The first training class with the new curriculum has been scheduled for April 2-4, 2008 in New York. Complete details on this and future classes is posted at www.soxinstitute.org.
