Pasadena, CA (PRWEB) April 3, 2008 -- The Cross Cultural Center and English Division at Pasadena City College present The Writer's Journey from Cause to Fiction on April 23, 2008 from 3:00 - 5:00 p.m. The two hour presentation will entail a discussion of the manuscript, Without Sin and the issues it brings to light. Author David McCabe will discuss the work of writing and the challenges faced by new, unpublished writers, followed by a reading, Q&A and hors d' oeuvres reception. The event will take place in the Cross Cultural Center Building in Room T110. There is a $2.00 parking fee payable at any college parking kiosk. This is a FREE event open to the public.

Without Sin is a work of contemporary fiction that takes place along the border dividing Southern California and Mexico. It chronicles the exploits of a young border patrol agent (Garrett Harrison) and an ill-starred seventeen-year-old Mexican prostitute (Estefanía Marguerite) as they struggle to come to terms with the increasing violence and changing politics that govern the borderlands dividing their countries.

Chicano & Ethnic Studies Professor, Mark Salinas comments, "Arguably, the 2000 mile US-Mexico Border is the most socially, economically, and politically tumultuous space in the world. Without Sin takes readers to the line and tells a human story that likely does occur."

David McCabe addresses what he believes to be a fundamental truth -- Humanity is a race of immigrants. As McCabe describes it, "The call to migrate is written upon each of us and will not be erased with the construction of fences or the establishment of a police state along our borders. In writing Without Sin, I have attempted to tell a story that captures the grave human costs associated with the criminalization of human migration."

The call to a cause landed McCabe in jail on September 28, 2006. David McCabe was arrested and convicted of a misdemeanor offense for failure to disperse because he participated in a demonstration march that turned into the largest act of Civil Disobedience in Los Angeles history.

McCabe has chosen to live a life based on his callings. His calling to teach, his calling to write and his calling to take a stand for causes he believes in.
