(PRWEB) April 4, 2008 -- Daily Candy Kids, the online auteur of all things chic in the children's market, has released their latest newsletter written about Feather Baby, a new baby clothing line for ages newborn through 4 years.
"There's no upchuck of pale pink and baby blue here; rich hues and subtle prints mean they can be worn by either sex (three cheers for hand-me-downs). And reasonable price tags justify the cuteness (eat your heart out Phillip Lim and Marc Jacobs). Expect to get the stink eye on the playground since your kid will be the best dressed."

How does this hip mom do it all?
What happens when a mom of trips and owner of three hip NYC boutiques dresses her new babies? She designs a layette of over 40 pieces for boys and girls. In the spring of 2006, Sude Dellinger Peta launched Feather Baby. Just one year later, over 350 boutiques carry the line and major department stores are lining up to offer it in the spring of 2007.
How does Sude balance everything? "With lots of caffeine," Sude and husband and co-owner, Joe, laugh. Feather Baby is truly a family business. The babies (Sabine, Milly and Jack, now two and a half ) inspire the design and model all the fashions. On any given day, you can find Joe on the phone with suppliers or setting up for trade shows. In the next room, Sude is designing a new line of ruffled onesies, while the babies tumble around her feet.
Feather Baby takes off
"The response is more than we ever could have imagined," says Sude. Weary of the ubiquitous pinks and blues, parents are jumping at Feather Baby's unique colors -- chocolate brown, turquoise and periwinkle - and subtle prints. What's more, the clothes really work. "My babies wear these clothes, so I know how important it is that the clothes are really soft and easy to put on and take off."
Fashion's softer side
"(Feather Baby) shows that you don't have to be rock-n-roll to be hip," writes Tina Barry on JamesGirone.com. In Sude's case, though, it doesn't hurt to have a background in rock-n-roll. Her work in international marketing and promotion for Sony Music took her around the world with pop stars Ricky Martin and Julio Iglesias.
In 1999, Sude couldn't find fashionable, affordable clothes in her Hell's Kitchen neighborhood. Always up for a challenge, she quit her job at Sony and opened the eponymous store, Sude. In 2002, Sude won the Best of Citysearch award. And in 2003 Sude opened stores in Gramercy Park and the Upper West Side.
Yet with all that's going on, Sude remains focused on the reason she got into fashion in the first place - to offer clothes that make people feel good. "It may seem like a small thing, but when I help someone find an outfit they look great in or when a new mom falls in love with one of our soft rompers, well that's what keeps me going," she says.
Feather Baby features a full line of classic, affordable layette in modern colors and patterns. Made of soft 100% Peruvian pima cotton, it comes in sizes 0 to 24 months, and starting this season, all the way to size 4T for girls' tops and dresses. Launched in January 2006, the line is carried in over 300 boutiques nationwide and online at featherbaby.com
With Feather Baby's success putting more demands on her time, the busy mother reluctantly closed the last two Sude shops last year and moved the family to Peru where the clothes are made. It was a big move but the quality of the clothes now is better than ever - and the triplets are learning Spanish and developing a taste for ceviche.
