Unwitting Crime Witness Takes Readers on a Full-Bodied Parisian Adventure
Gini Anding offers a thrilling mystery story infused with French history in "Witness by the Church," the fourth novel in her enticing "Witness" series.
St. Augustine, FL (PRWEB) April 7, 2008 -- With vivid, first-hand descriptions and rich historical details, accomplished author Gini Anding brings Paris and the Ile St-Louis to life once again in the fourth novel of her culture-infused, romantic "Witness" mystery series, "Witness by the Church" (ISBN 9780595455027, iUniverse, 2007).
"Witness by the Church" is Anding's latest book starring food critic Amy Page and French investigator Jean-Michel Jolivet, passionate lovers living together in Paris. In each "Witness" novel, Amy is the key--yet unwitting--witness to a crime. Unlike most mystery novels starring a female lead, Amy isn't an amateur sleuth and never sets out to help the police. In "Witness by the Church," Amy doesn't realize she holds the key clue to a major crime, until she becomes the target of several botched assassination attempts.
Fortunately for Amy, her boyfriend, Jean-Michel, happens to be a retired investigator for the French government and he gladly steps in to find Amy's unknown assassins. "Witness by the Church" tosses Amy and Jean-Michel into a multifaceted mystery involving hidden relics, fabled treasure, the life of Saint Louis, and the church that bears his name in the heart of Paris.
"While Amy is the primary witness to the mystery at hand in each novel, she also serves as the reader's witness to certain cultural, historical, geographic and culinary particulars and events," Anding says. "Everything in my novels is meticulously researched and documented… a good read should be entertaining without sacrificing the facts."
Anding's credentials on Paris and the French culture are impressive: she lived in and now regularly visits Paris; her graduate studies and teaching career focused on the French language, literature and culture; and she and her husband were decorated twice by the French government with the prestigious Palmes Académiques, for their contributions to French culture. "Witness by the Church" is an intelligent read that defies classification and offers readers not only a suspenseful mystery, but also ardent romance, relevant social commentary and an expert cultural, historical and geographic guide to Paris.
