Youngest Band Ever to Debut On Major Blues Label, B.B. King Says They Do the Genre Proud
Sibling trio with combined age of 38 to release debut album on NorthernBlues Music.
Toronto, ON (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) April 9, 2008 -- Current Keeping the Blues Alive Award recipient and premier blues/roots/world label NorthernBlues Music announces the debut album by The Homemade Jamz Blues Band. The band consists of three siblings: Ryan (16), Kyle (13) and Taya (9). The CD entitled Pay Me No Mind arrives in stores worldwide on June 10, 2008 through Redeye Distribution.
True to its name, the band recorded Pay Me No Mind in their Tupelo, Miss. home over three days. The album is produced by Miles Wilkinson, who also produced NorthernBlues' Doug Cox & Salil Bhatt's Slide to Freedom, the critically acclaimed fusion CD of Blues and Indian music. Wilkinson's career credits include Emmylou Harris, Guy Clark, Marcia Ball, John Hammond and The Band's legendary Last Waltz.
Fred Litwin, president of NorthernBlues, first saw the band perform in the 2007 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, TN where he was a judge. Out of 157 competing adult bands, they placed second. He contacted them soon thereafter in interest of signing them.
The 11-track Pay Me No Mind features ten originals (penned by father Renaud) and a rejuvenated interpretation of the John Lee Hooker classic, Boom Boom. The collection of songs offers the listener a snapshot of a raw, organic and youthful perspective of blues music. It captures passion over digitalism, raw talent over mechanics, and presents the same unadulterated sounds of the siblings astounding audiences in front of festival stages worldwide.
The band has already been the subject of a CBS Morning News segment. View it here: http://www.cbsnews.com/sections/i_video/main500251.shtml?id=3564044n
In 2008 the members of the Homemade Jamz Blues Band will be homeschooled in order to accept current invitations to perform at festivals throughout Europe and North America as well as special engagements such as the grand opening of the B.B. King Museum in Indianola, Miss. in September 2008.
