History, Dig It! - Stamford Historical Society Second Annual Gala Fundraiser

History, Dig It! Join The Stamford Historical Society for an evening of dinner and dancing Saturday, April 26, 2008.

Stamford, CT (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- The Stamford Historical Society invites Stamford residents and friends to an evening of dinner, dancing, and socializing on Saturday, April 26, 2008 at 7:00 p.m. at the AOH (Hibernian) Hall in Stamford to celebrate Stamford's rich history.

Honorary Chairperson Rosemary Harris will be on hand to sign copies of her new gardening mystery, "Pushing Up Daisies." This talented Stamford author has set her first mystery in the city of Springfield, CT (a slightly altered version of Stamford, CT). The novel features quirky and nefarious members of the Springfield Historical Society - hence the connection to our gala fundraiser.

The inspiration for the 2008 gala theme is the exhibition Digging Up Stamford, which chronicles the history of Stamford from an archaeological viewpoint and features historic as well as prehistoric material recovered from archaeological sites that were excavated from Stamford and other local sites.

The event will feature live music by Full Sound Productions, dinner by The Best in Gourmet, segments of Digging Up Stamford, and a chance to win some tempting prizes.

Last year's dinner dance was World War II themed, and attendees were encouraged to come in 1940s era costumes. An interesting exhibit featuring Stamford's involvement in WWII was also on display in the Italian Center lobby. "Last year's Gala at the Italian Center was a great success," said Pam Coleman, Chairman of the Stamford Historical Society, "But this year's event promises to be even more exciting."

Anyone interested in attending should contact the Historical Society at 203-329-1183 or stop by the offices at 1508 High Ridge Road. The proceeds from the event will help the Stamford Historical Society continue to create quality, award-winning exhibits for the Stamford Community.
