Amsterdam (PRWEB) April 12, 2008 -- Schenker, Kuehne+Nagel, UPS, TNT, Thermo King, IBM to discuss the flawed logistics supply chain and the need for solid integration strategies

The logistics industry is faced with the daunting reality of increasing costs associated with operational efficiency, fuel and labour. In addition to rising costs, the supply chain remains far from seamless, with a lack of information sharing and a delayed reaction reducing efficiency.

It is essential to synchronise the many types of software and databases to ensure that they coexist and cross-communicate in real-time, if the supply chain is to stand any chance of being seamless.

The key to interlocking the supply chain with increased visibility is integration. The need to interlink systems and communicate data from fleet management devices and sensors into the rest of the supply chain has become imperative in order to cope with rising costs and increase efficiency.

"Translating customer demands in value adding fleet and supply chain solutions is the name of the game today" comments Jos Kagenaar, Director Business Development at TNT Innight and confirmed speaker at the Logistics and Fleet Management Systems conference.

Feeding data from the fleet management systems into back-end Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and Transport Management Systems (TMS) requires solid integration strategies to manage internal efficiencies.

"Real-time visibility of the supply chain is essential if companies want to optimise operations, keep transportation costs under control, and allow efficient management of and reaction to supply chain breakdowns,," comments Puja Pankhania, industry analyst at Telematics Update. "Each supply chain and partner network has specific needs, and it's important to tailor software so that it can be fully integrated into supply chain operations and is, in fact, seamless."

Data exchange and integration across the supply chain, including shippers, logistics companies, 3PL's, carriers and retailers, is far from perfect. This is a gap in the market that presents potentially huge opportunities for solutions providers and fleet management systems developers.

Telematics Update's Logistics & Fleet Management Systems 2008 conference has been created as a platform for visionary companies where senior industry executives can thrash out the integration strategies and key areas for development in order to unite supply chain stakeholders and offer solutions that can shave operational costs.

Jos Kagenaar will be particpating alongisde other confirmed speakers including senior executives from Kuehne + Nagel, Schenker, UPS SCS, Thermo King, GE, IBM and more. To learn more about the conference, the topics and the confirmed speakers visit: Visit www.telematicsupdate.com/info/529
