Travel Adventures Offers Cultural Immersion Programs in Chicago

Chicago neighborhoods are cultural destination for holiday season immersion programs.

Lapeer, MI (PRWEB) April 11, 2008 -- Travel Adventures announces the promotion of a variety of cultural immersion programs throughout the year - and in December 2007, Chicago neighborhoods such as Pilsen Village and Little Mexico provided the opportunity for students to immerse in the Hispanic culture and Spanish language.

Each December, Travel Adventures' highly popular Fiesta Mexicana provides a fiesta twist to the holidays in Chicago. The two-day itinerary celebrates three holidays at the same time, beginning with a visit to the largest Day of the Dead display in North America. Students then embark on a culinary adventure at the family-owned Mi Tierra Restaurant for a fiesta luncheon with traditional Mexican cuisine, music and dancing.

A Chicago holiday institution, Christkindlmarket Chicago is a tradition that is beloved by Chicagoans. The unique shopping experience features diverse holiday entertainment, handmade ornaments and handicrafts. Students may also view vendors demonstrating their handicrafts offered at the market. Highlighting the Chicago holiday experience, students also tour the largest International Christmas tree exhibit at the Museum of Science & Industry and view the lights from the John Hancock Observatory.

Each spring Travel Adventures unique Fiesta Latina also occurs in Chicago. Fiesta Latina is a cultural immersion experience complete with history, art, music, tours and authentic food. Students explore Chicago's Pilsen and Little Mexico areas with a tour guide, visit local Mexican specialty stores, and explore Mexican history with a visit to the Mexican Fine Arts Center Museum.

In the evening, the Fiesta kicks off with a delicious Latin-style dinner, followed by an exciting presentation of folkloric and modern Latin dance as well as dance lessons. Once the party begins, students dance with instructors to live Latin music performed by a band from Chile. Contests and games make it an exciting evening for students. A "Mercado", or Mexican market offers souvenirs and t-shirts.

Fiesta student groups also have the option of adding other Chicago venues such as Navy Pier, Sears Tower and Shedd Aquarium to their tour.

Assisting teachers in providing students with life-long learning experiences, Travel Adventures has a staff of certified educators who know the elements of successful student tours - taking the guesswork out of what to include on a tour. Experienced tour consultants customize each itinerary to meet curriculum objectives and budgets for teachers. Quotes and sample itineraries are complementary, and teachers always travel for free.

Travel Adventures is a student tour provider staffed by educators who understand the needs of teachers. It has served over one half million students since 1987 and its mission is to "empower teachers to create change by expanding the classroom to the world."
