Ocala, Florida Describes the Perfect President
Twenty-two listeners to a talk show on radio station WOCA, in Ocala, Florida, each spoke for two minutes to answer the question, "What do you want from the next president of the United States?" The program is available as a free downloadable podcast.
Ocala, FL (PRWEB) April 13, 2008 -- A small AM radio station in the small town of Ocala, Florida is getting some big attention after broadcasting a one-hour talk show in which the host of the show invited listeners to take two minutes to say what they want from the next President of The United States. The resulting program became an open letter to the candidates themselves as twenty-two listeners responded with an eclectic and diverse array of answers.
The responses accurately reflected the issues concerning this small cross section of America but did not completely resemble the rhetoric of the candidates themselves. Consequently, the question raised by the program asks the rest of America if Ocala is different from the rest of the country or, rather, does this community resemble much of the American population and, instead, the candidates are simply not addressing most of the concerns of the average American.
While the three major campaign issues of Iraq, health care, and immigration were expressed by these twenty-two Ocalans, the bulk of the concerns covered a much wider spectrum.
