Elliott Cohn Debuts 2 New CDs for Jazz Fest

Elliott Cohn, accomplished producer/guitarist/singer/songwriter, will release two new CDs in time for New Orleans Jazz Fest 2008, "It's Time" featuring Elliott Cohn's Cosmic Sweat Society and "The Stem" featuring Cohn with bass player Felix Pastorious, son of jazz pioneer bass player Jaco Pastorious.

New Orleans, LA (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) April 13, 2008 -- Elliott Cohn, accomplished producer/guitarist/singer/songwriter, will release two new CDs in time for New Orleans Jazz Fest 2008, "It's Time" featuring Elliott Cohn's Cosmic Sweat Society and "The Stem" featuring Cohn with bass player Felix Pastorious, son of jazz pioneer bass player Jaco Pastorious.

In spite of a potentially career-ending injury to his neck, which threatened both his vocal abilities and use of his left arm, Cohn persevered through surgery and recovery to produce both of the new CDs. "My injury paralyzed my left arm and I had to have open neck surgery last year, which has a high risk of damaging the vocal chords. I'm almost 100 percent and I made it back in time for Jazz Fest with a dual CD release ... I'm feeling better than ever. It's been a tough road but I live for my music."

Cohn's acclaimed Cosmic Sweat Society is a revolving door project, a fusion funk, rock, blues and jazz band with many illustrious musicians lending their talent. At any given time, as is custom in New Orleans, any of the musicians featured on the CD "It's Time" and other "Society" members may sit in and play at Cohn's live performances. Some of these notable players include Jeff Watkins, saxophone player (James Brown/Joss Stone), "Mean" Willie Green, drums (Neville Brothers/Bob Dylan/Carlos Santana), Belita Woods, vocals (George Clinton's P-funk Allstars), New Orleans legends Joe Krown, B3 Organ, and Tom Fitzpatrick, saxophone and many more.

"Elliott Cohn's Cosmic Sweat Society lays down an aggressive funk sound that has the map of New Orleans painted all over it -- (his) guitar playing is a cut above, and should be experienced by all" -- Where Y'at Magazine

A prolific producer, Cohn has engineered several CDs for other New Orleans musicians, including "Take Me Back" by Big Sam's Funky Nation, and a fusion version of "The World is a Ghetto" with Shamarr Allen. Cohn sings and plays lead guitar on both productions.

The Cosmic Sweat Society's Jazz Festival schedule includes gigs at Lazziz a, Banks St. Bar, and the Dragon's Den. The new CDs will be available at the live shows and on CD Baby.
