Andie deRoux included in Seattle University Art Collection, "What Does Compassion Look Like?"

Seattle University has recently acquired 43 works of art for $100,000.00 that comprise the fine art exhibit "What Does Compassion Look Like?". Included in the collection are works by Andie deRoux (om mani padme hum, 24x24, resin, mixed mediums on canvas, 2008), Steve Jensen, Dennis Evans, and Catherine Easton Skinner. The works will be permanently on view in the collection of Seattle University. Further funding has been secured to publish a book on the 43 works of art that comprise the fine art exhibit "What Does Compassion Look Like?"

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 16, 2008 -- 43 renowned Northwest artists are participating in this unique exhibition, "What Does Compassion Look Like?" The Friesen Gallery has been exhibiting contemporary painting and sculpture in Seattle for nearly 20 years. Centrally located across from the Seattle Art Museum and Benaroya Symphony Hall, the Gallery has garnered a reputation for mounting significant exhibitions by important artists.

The exhibition marks an unprecedented cooperative effort, bringing together independent artists and those affiliated with numerous galleries throughout Seattle. Just as Seeds of Compassion is designed to band together people from different fields and backgrounds toward a common goal, this extraordinary art exhibition brings together artists working in various styles and media all seeking to answer the same question, "What Does Compassion Look Like?" The evocative and personal question at the heart of this exhibition is sure to generate a greater understanding of the many forms and expressions compassion can take.

The exhibition is on display in conjunction with Seattle's five-day compassion conference with the Dalai Lama.
