Story Focuses on a Lifetime of Involvement with Missions
Children will be able to eventually impact their native lands for Christ.
Longwood, FL (PRWEB) April 17, 2008 -- Johanna is a typical teenage girl growing up in the heartland of America, in a "Christian" home. She is evangelized by her dynamic Christian friend, Kelly, who is planning on going on a short-term mission trip to Haiti. Johanna visits Kelly's church, and decides to sponsor a girl named Yolène in Haiti. In the meantime, Yolène has been on the waiting list for months to be sponsored, so she can go to school near her small village in North Central Haiti.
Robert Dubois' Johanna in the Valley of Decision ($10.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-433-7) follows the lives of both girls and their families in their very different cultures and lifestyles. It concludes that each of the girls and their families have many common basic needs: food, shelter, education, love and a need to know the Lord through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
Says Dubois, "I hope readers will gain an appreciation of cross-cultural concepts and develop a heart for missions and child sponsorship in third world countries as a result of reading the book. When they get to know the characters, they will learn they are more than just an anonymous child on a poster--and they will begin to care what happens to them."
Having worked for more than 20 years with two large missions organizations in Haiti, developing child sponsorship programs both overseas and stateside, Dubois has found that his involvement with missions has been richly rewarding. He and his wife, Marie, developed the Johanna series to raise awareness for the need for child sponsorship in underdeveloped countries. They believe the hope for these countries rests with the youth, who can be reached with the gospel and educated, eventually impacting their native lands for Christ.
