Jake Records is Looking for New Recording Artists

The newly formed record label is seeking recording artists from all musical genres and walks of life to sign and distribute.

Seattle, WA (PRWEB) April 17, 2008 -- Jake Records, formed in early 2008, has achieved what few labels can say they have achieved in their first 90-days. Already the label has distributed several top-notch albums to major online retailers, and has signed a multi-platinum artist to the label. Riding high on those successes, but also looking for more, Jake Records today announces that they are looking for new artists to bring to the label.

The company is looking for indie artists from multiple musical genres. From Hip Hop to Country, from Pop to Rock or Jazz, Jake Records wants new talent. Artists who are currently working on an album, or who have finished an album and are actively looking for a record label should contact Jake Records immediately. "We appreciate all kinds of music, and our motto around the office is 'we love great music'," says the label's CEO and founder Scott Thomas. "We don't apply the same mass-appeal rules that many other labels do. Yes, we want to get paid and work with artists who are going to go places, but we think more often than not many amazing talents are left out to dry because those same labels didn't think they could get 2 million downloads or whatever," Thomas said.

We don't apply the same mass-appeal rules that many other labels do. Yes, we want to get paid and work with artists who are going to go places, but we think more often than not many amazing talents are left out to dry because those same labels didn't think they could get 2 million downloads or whatever
The company believes strongly in hard-working artists who have amazing material ready to market. "I can't tell you how many times someone has approached us in the last two months with an amazing album and said 'they wont sign me because I'm new' or 'they said they can't get 200,000 iTunes downloads, so they weren't interested'," said Dan Diaz, VP/Artist Relations for Jake Records. "You get this sense that the bigger labels are passing up all kinds of amazing talent and focusing only on those artists they already know or believe in. Nobody is taking chances on new talent anymore and that's where we fit in nicely," he added.

Jake Records was founded in early 2008 by Thomas to help digitally distribute music for a few friends that had albums. Initially rejecting the idea of forming a full-blown record label, Thomas jokingly now says "The demand to take it up a notch was undeniable... so yes, I've started that record label I always said I would not start." The company has indeed evolved into just that, a full-service label that has since signed several artists ranging from Jazz and Country to multi-platinum Hip Hop superstars like Digital Underground.

Scott Thomas, the company's founder and CEO is well-known for his ability to quickly and efficiently start up small companies that achieve success and lasting durability. He is also the CEO of a major DJ remix company, and was most recently the co-founder and CEO of a major national radio network. His background includes major radio, advertising, branding, and overall marketing experiences which all lend themselves to the early successes of Jake Records. Mr. Thomas is also a member of the Society of Professional Journalists and is a minority shareholder in a publicly-traded winery.

Dan Diaz, VP/Artist Relations for the company is also the founder of Takeover Music Group, a California-based music production and promotions company. Mr. Diaz has been involved in all aspects of the music business from touring on the road with a band, to producing hit singles for several Northern California artists. His knack for finding new talent makes him a natural fit for Jake Records. He is involved in the day-to-day operations of the company and screens new talent for the label.

Interested artists can learn more about the label at www.JakeRecords.com - or by contacting Dan Diaz via email at dan.diaz@jakerecords.com.

Artists signed to the label currently include: Digital Underground, Jiggy, Chepo, Newsbrief, Alyssa Bauer, Deuce Maxwell, Jay Smith, and Not 4 Nothin. The label has produced several in-house compilation album as well, including "The 420 Project" and "Beats for Ballers Volume 1" both of which are available for sale at iTunes and Amazon.com MP3 now.

Jake Records is now taking artist submissions. Contact Dan Diaz ASAP.
