A Lack of Vision Is Placing Our Nation in Peril Says New Book

Author says it is imperative we reclaim our status as beacon of liberty.

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) April 17, 2008 -- Two central beliefs in the Declaration of Independence have greatly shaped the United States and formed it into a country that is a beacon of liberty throughout the world. The first influential belief is that there is a providential God who presides over the affairs of this world, and the second is that God has granted man inalienable rights. Leaders have appealed to these beliefs during some of the nation's most trying and defining moments, including the Revolutionary War, the Civil War, and World War II. Unfortunately, these founding and sustaining visions are in danger of being lost today. Randall Norman DeSoto's We Hold These Truths ($15.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-268-5) delves into the issues that surround these beliefs, states the disastrous effects that losing these beliefs would bring, and presents solutions for a nation that is in peril due to a lack of vision.

The author's many life experiences and travels make the book come to life. As a West Point cadet, he participated in battlefield tours of Normandy and Great Britain, and following graduation, he served as an armor officer in the Army's 4th Infantry Division. He has worked on Capitol Hill; participated in a statewide political campaign; published several articles regarding history, faith, government and culture; and carefully researched all of the major locations found in the book, from Boston to Bastogne.

DeSoto says, "My purpose and greatest hope in writing We Hold These Truths is that it might stir in the hearts of those who read it a renewed faith in the visionary beliefs that have helped make the United States 'the land of the free and the home of the brave.'"

Xulon Press, a part of Salem Communications Corporation, is the world's largest Christian publisher, with more than 4,000 titles published to date. Retailers may order We Hold These Truths through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors.
