New Book of Poetry and Vignettes Reveals a Soul in Torment
Encourages the less fortunate to see every cloud has a silver lining
Longwood, FL (PRWEB) April 19, 2008 -- Veteran author Cicely Ratcliff penned her latest release, The Master's Pen: My Spirit Speaks (paperback, 978-1-60477-696-6), in response to today's rising statistics of suicide, which are of concern throughout every nation. In January 1999, a few days shy of his 21st birthday, Christopher Michael committed suicide in a haze of depression, self-loathing, and drug addiction. He left behind a loving family which is still trying to understand what happened to this promising young man and why. Evocative poetry alternated with short autobiographical vignettes written from Christopher's point of view reveal a soul in torment, a young man who was unable to trust in God to do battle with the outside forces of evil which had taken over his life.
Says Ratcliff, "(My book will) encourage those who are depressed to look around, count their blessings, and reach out to the less fortunate. (It will show them that) behind what appears to be a dark cloud there is always a silver lining. One of the greatest gifts God has given to us is the gift of choice. Choose life!"
As the founder and CEO of Live Now Ministries, Inc., Ratcliff has aided in the needs of veteran and military families. For the past three decades, she has counseled emotionally disturbed people with an emphasis on the youth, many of whom were suicidal. She has applied her extensive experiences as a certified Christian counselor to the penning of her book, which she hopes will help mitigate the threat of suicide globally.
