Book Challenges Religious Regime That Uses Bible as Weapon

Focuses on forgiveness and moving on from the pain of divorce

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) April 20, 2008 -- When the dust from a divorce settles, you might find yourself wondering "now what?" How do you go about picking up the pieces of your life and starting over again? Author Wade Powers wondered just that, being divorced himself, and was unable to get quality help during some of the darkest years of his life. In The Covenant Divorce Recovery Leader's Handbook (paperback, 978-1-60477-428-3), readers will learn advice to help them adjust after the pain and turmoil of divorce, and they will learn that divorce is not the unpardonable sin it is sometimes made out to be--God does give second chances.

Says Powers, "(My book) is not the mainstream paint by numbers type of book in Christian bookstores today. It focuses on forgiveness and moving on. It takes on the religious regime that uses the Bible as a weapon."

The book, which was designed to be used in conjunction with The Covenant Divorce Recovery Student Workbook (paperback, 978-1-60477-464-1), introduces concepts intended for discussion in a support group setting. "The idea of a divorce support group among Christians was an absurd notion in the not-too-distant past," the author notes.

After a messy divorce, Powers struggled as a single dad with three elementary school children full-time. Today those days seem like a fog. Life got good again. He soon started up a divorce ministry for Christians and found great success in counseling others who had been through similar circumstances. Now the author hopes readers will be able to draw from the experiences outlined in his book and use it to get past their pain.

Xulon Press, a part of Salem Communications Corporation, is the world's largest Christian publisher, with more than 4,000 titles published to date. Retailers may order The Covenant Divorce Recovery Leader's Handbook through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors.
