Grammy Award Winning Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience to play The New Orleans Jazz& Heritage Festival, Festival International and Contraband Days in Louisiana

See one of Louisiana's favorite sons perform in his home state on Friday April 25, 2008 7PM at the legendary New Orleans Jazz& Heritage Festival. This is his 23 consecutive year performing at this legendary festival event. He performs in Lafayette, LA on Sunday April 27, 2008 with Lafayette native and international star Cupid also joining him onstage in a guest performance. Finally Simien will be Lake Charles, LA at Contraband Days on May 4, 2008 at 7PM.

Lafayette, Louisiana (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) April 24, 2008 -- For more than 25 years Simien has toured the globe helping to raise the awareness about Louisiana zydeco music and his Creole culture. He has toured millions of miles, to more than 40 countries and performed over 5,000 concerts. He has toured with the US State Department to Africa, Cuba and Paraguay. He's toured with the Dave Matthews Band, Los Lobos and the late Robert Palmer to name a few. He's shared the studio and stage with legendary New Orleans artists like Art Neville, the meters, Dr. John and Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

On February 10, 2008 he and his band mates were honored with a Grammy as the first artists recognized by The Recording Academy in this new voting category for Zydeco and Cajun Music that Simien was instrumental in helping to establish in 2007.

On March 17 The City of Opelousas, LA in St. Landry Parish where he was born, they officially declared him a Cultural Ambassador for Louisiana. Ten days later The City of Lafayette proclaimed March 27th as Terrance Simien Day. United Way is featuring him on billboards and print ads for their "Live United" campaign.

The State of Louisiana Office of Tourism is currently featuring Simien as one of Louisiana's internationally recognized artists in their "My Louisiana" national television and print media ad campaign.
