One of the Most Relevant 21st Century Books Makes Its Debut

Author's new book takes a look at the great deception we are under

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) April 26, 2008 -- In The Doors of the Church Are Closed (paperback, 978-1-60477-947-9), a new release by Xulon author Dana Carson, D.Min., Ph.D., the author sheds light on the need for reformation in the contemporary Christian church. Statistics suggest nearly 4,000 churches are closing, with only 1,200 to 1,800 opening annually. Less than 20 percent of Americans attend church, and 97 percent of churches didn't win one convert last year. These figures provide insight into what is the most pervasive problem facing Christian churches today, but Carson's book takes it one step further. In what is perhaps one of the most relevant 21st century writings to the church, the author offers a scholarly yet practical and straightforward evaluation of the contemporary church and its detachment from and ignorance of the culture of the kingdom of God.

Says Carson, "The church has experienced an apostasy from desiring the will of God through the Word of God to a desire and quest for prosperity and financial independence with the 'assistance' of the Word of God. This mindset and shift in focus represents the end-time ploy of Satan to lead God's people into [a great deception that will manifest in a great disappointment on that day."

Four years ago, Carson left a mega church with several thousand members and relocated to a small rural town outside of Houston. There he began to preach and teach the kingdom of God for unity within the body of Christ. As he does in his book, "I positioned my ministry for kingdom impact and committed my life to building a kingdom-minded church as well as planting and training others to become kingdom-minded churches that transcend the issues of race and class," the author says.

Xulon Press, a part of Salem Communications Corporation, is the world's largest Christian publisher, with more than 5,000 titles published to date. Retailers may order The Doors of the Church Are Closed through Ingram Book Company and/or Spring Arbor Book Distributors.
