Work Explores Ancient Tradition That Understands God as Love

Offers solutions to problems from traditional and modern theologies

Longwood, FL (PRWEB) April 27, 2008 -- The Apostle John teaches that God is love. The Lemma Ioanneum (1 Jn. 4:8) is one of the most important topics in the history of Christian theology, as it offers a precious insight into the depths of the Trinitarian mystery. In Eric E. Puosi's I Am Love: A Trinitarian Agapic Ontology ($21.99, paperback, 978-1-60477-409-2), the author develops a theological system that springs from an ontological-relational understanding of the Johannine passage. Central to this book is the three-fold demonstration that in God love and being are one and the same thing. The concluding chapter on marriage constitutes an example of how an agapic Trinitarian theology can lead to a deeper comprehension of all other theological disciplines.

Grounded not only in scholarly works, but also in mystical writings, theological exegesis of scriptural texts, and the sensum fidelium, I Am Love offers a synthesis between academic theology and the theology of the communities. It constitutes a bridge between the church and universities, two realities that are now separated by a huge chasm.

Says Puosi, "This work takes a step further into the ancient tradition that understands God as love. This tradition begins in the Bible, and theologians of all times have contributed to it. The last main contribution was Pope Benedict's encyclical letter, 'Deus Charitas Est.' My book constitutes an innovative, yet faithful contribution to this theological tradition. I offer solutions to some problems that spring from both traditional and modern theologies."
