Cardiatis presented today at Medtech Insights' In3 Europe Investor Conference in Paris. Margy Waugh led the presentation team and highlighted the $3 billion Endovascular Aneurysm Repair market opportunity that the company 3D Multilayer Stent Technology addresses.

Brussels, Belgium (PRWEB) April 29, 2008 -- Cardiatis SA team presented today at Medtech Insights' In3 Europe Investor Conference in Paris. Margy Waugh, who is responsible for investor relations and corporate communication, led the team presentation and highlighted the $3 billion Endovascular Aneurysm Repair market opportunity that the company's 3D Multilayer Stent Technology Platform addresses.

"It is sufficient to say that in the field of aneurysm treatment Cardiatis is making history. We have a new answer to endovascular aneurysm repair and it is simple, it is elegant and it works." said Margy Waugh. "Our technology will make treatment of aneurysms, irrespective of location, as simple as standard stenting procedures" she explained.

Our technology will make treatment of aneurysms, irrespective of location, as simple as standard stenting procedures
An aneurysm is a local dilatation of an artery caused by a degenerative weakness of the artery wall. That is why it dilates. Since arteries act as pressurized pipelines for the distribution of oxygenated blood to the different parts in the body, once an aneurysm forms, it keeps on growing until it ruptures. Just like a balloon. Aneurysms rupture causes internal bleeding that can lead to death. That is why aneurysms need to be excluded from circulation.

At present there are two distinct approaches for aneurysm repair. Open surgical repair and endovascular repair, which uses arteries as highways to reach the location of the aneurysm and repair it from the inside.

Cardiatis FluidSmart three dimensional multilayer stent slows and laminates flow within aneurysms causing an organized thrombus to form. It eliminates aneurysms from circulation physiologically while preserving vital collateral circulation.

Cardiatis FluidSmart multilayer stent has been successfully deployed in 15 aneurysms in different locations with positive results, the company is currently recruiting for prospective multi-center clinical trials for eliminating aneurysms in several anatomical areas, cerebral, aortic and peripheral.
